James is a veteran actor with fifty years’ experience, having trained at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He is credited with many memorable roles, being internationally known as Randyll Tarly in Game of Thrones, Lord Sinderby in Downton Abbey, the dual roles of the Pope and the Prisoner in Da Vinci’s Demons, and Chief C in Atomic Blonde. And who could forget his turn as Uncle Geoffrey in the Bridget Jones franchise…

James is the voice of Swain in the video game League of Legends and has recorded countless documentaries for The History Channel and National Geographic. He narrated The Nuremberg Trials, which won an Emmy. For three years he was the voice of ITN and ITV News and has just completed two national advertising campaigns.

He has recently voiced the character of King Arthur in Guillermo del Toro’s Tales of Arcadia franchise. In 2019 he won the MovieGuide award for his portrayal of Paul in Paul, Apostle of Christ.
